Spiritual capacity

We do not choose and pick History.

When David realizes Goliath is a threat for his nation, he look at the skills, talents that he have. Others tried to help him by giving him weapons and protective gears, but David use his skills and when he let go of the stone, it hit Goliath just like that. God already given you all that you need to face the giant.

At the point when David rises up against Goliath, all the soldiers, everyone around him is hiding, they were all afraid and in hiding. But when David’s stone hit Goliath and defeated him, suddenly everyone emerge. People will emerge when they see the triumph of God.

The West (not geographically, but ideology) is in decline, Asia is rising up spiritually. Being spiritual is not just being a Christian, but it is to practice to live life outside of religion.  City Harvest Church is living as Christian in a whole new way. God is preparing us; He is carrying us in this time of history. But we have to be practical and be socially relevant.

Change is not an event, it is a process.

Whoever controls the language controls the conversation. In the story of Babel, a common language brings authority and unity, a language that is understood opens up communication in a new level. Look at the marketing media, they gives you the language of the culture. Words we understood is taking a new meaning today. In Wales, marriage is a whole new idea of two same sex is involve, it is not a man and a woman anymore. Is the church outside of the world? Are we allowing the world to define our language?

How do we authentic spirituality? Is it the observing of crystals being lit up? Looking at the full moon and howl? Spirituality is guided by a framework. In biblical definition, it is to know and experience God. God have hardwired human beings to experience Him, we always have this awareness that there is something greater out there. He has put eternity in the hearts of men. Many people created God as a source of power, like sun, moon, fire. But without biblical knowledge, your experience with God is full of errors. It is through prayer, worship, meditation, community, fasting and in everyday life.  

In fact most of the transformation experience is in everyday life. We know that it is God who open up the door, it is god who connects us in the relationship, it is definitely God who infiltrate your everyday life.

Have you heard of the Toronto blessings? Many people flock there to experience the move of God. But without knowledge, your experience with God will ended up in error. People started manifesting and roaring like lions, but the Holy Spirit is not an animal.

How do we know god? God is spirit, we know Him through the bible. Bible is a revealed truth, unless God reveals himself to you. Your deficiency in knowledge limits and blocks your experience with God.

Holy bible is full of patterns and principles.  It is for you to successfully navigate through your human life, it shows you how the world works, and there is a universal law. Scriptures reveals the plans and purpose of God for you, your family, church, society. When you know your purpose, you need plans to fulfill the purpose of God.

You cannot grow spiritually without a community. It is through the faith base community you learn to love and give to one another.  You cannot grow in isolation.

Your relevance to the society is not what you wear. Your attires is not what makes you relevant, your attire is a fashion statement. Being cool have a shelf life, when everybody have it, it is not cool anymore.

Capacity is the volume of a static object. But to human being, capacity is dynamic, it can be increased. We have the ability to enlarge, increase our capacity. Our capacity is the potential inside of us. God always speaks to the capacity, potential inside of us. Increase your spiritual capacity, it wills affects your soul and eventually your body.

Year 2014 December, Ben told me about the Feb 2015  new intake of guitar class. after the audition on the first day, classes started officially on 2nd FEB. The main reason why i wanted to join the class is because, Pastor Bobby once said that as a cell group leader, one of the skills you must need to master is playing of guitar. If you can play the guitar, you can better serve God. What he said have lingered in my heart, so i have decided that there is no other way, but to learn the guitar!! It is a must for me to learn, no compromise.

You know actually on the last 4th or 5th lesson, I almost wanted to give up. reason? My tummy is protruding, i have to hold the guitar so far away from my body that my left wrist is pressing on the chords at such an awkward position, my whole body is bending forward, neck, shoulder is hurting because of the awkward position. I wanted to see if my fingers are pressing on the right string, if I'm strumming the right way, but my tummy is growing bigger and bigger each day. It becomes physically painful to practice or play guitar. 

I remembered that in bible school, SOT reward those who have a 100% attendance and punctual students. It is important that we try our best, we give our best. It is never easy, but it can be done!! Endurance, perseverance is the key!! It is not about graduating, it is about doing it every single day and not give up on a daily basis. Truly, it is a daily battle, but we fight our battle one day at a time, victory comes one day at a time. I remembered that day i dragged my feet to class, (since the beginning of the day i have been thinking of not going to class, imagine this thought lingers with me the whole day till 7 pm!!) but i never regret going to that class. It was that particular day, Ben shared a revelation about being a guitarist!! I would have missed it if i skip class.

"Do you remember why at the first place you register yourself as a guitarist? Simply because you want to usher in the presence of God for His people. We learn guitar is not for our own praise and worship session, it it to serve the Lord, to serve our God, it is to serve His people, His children. We have tasted His goodness, love, His holy presence, God wants to use us as a vessel to bring to His children a taste of His goodness too. You are here because you are the priest, you are the minister

Ever since They announce the exam date for guitar class, i force myself to practice at least  30 mins every single day. It is during these times of practice, i practice worship strumming with praying. I prayed strongly, intercession for my family, my cell group, my connect group. every single day praying for His anointing, His blessings, His protection for my husband and myself. truly praying with guitar is so much more different than just praying all by yourself. the music, the melody somehow helps you to keep on praying, to pray even longer, to pray even stronger, its like the fire in you burns even bigger and bigger. it is like a weapon we use in the warfare, somehow you fight even more fierce because of this weapon you have in your hand. 

I do remember all the good times i have with God when i worship Him with my new learnt skill. there is one time, i was singing First love, His presence came in so thick and tangible into the whole place, I have sang this song many many times, but with His presence, my heart melted, tears started flowing, i experienced a touch from heaven. How awesome it is to be able to experience God in such a wonderful way. I can truly imagine, why Ben told me last time that he can worship God with his guitar for at least 5 to 6 hours everyday, now i can truly understand how is it like being soaked in His presence and time just flies..Ben is like the modern day David. just like how David using his musical instrument to worship God when he was all alone with the sheep, a relationship between God and David  is being built up like tat, just like how Ben, his relationship with God. 

woo hoo!! beginner class have just finished, it is a new beginning for me, a guitarist!! God, I am so thankful for this new skill, gonna learn, gonna use it, gonna sharpen it. AWESOME!!

Sunday Service: Enlarging our capacity

18 After looking at the way things are on this earth, here's what I've decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life. And that's about it. That's the human lot. 19 Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what's given and delighting in the work. It's God's gift! Ecc 5:18- 19 MSG

In order to enjoy God's gift for us, you must have the capacity. 

Capacity = maximum ability to receive, contain, withstand and produce. 

God have no limits in His blessings. But, how much can you contain? How much can you contain the pressure? We are talking about spiritual capacity! 

When the vessels were all full, she said to her son, Bring me another vessel. And he said to her, There is not a one left. Then the oil stopped multiplying. 2 Kings 4:6 AMP

God pour out precious oil from heaven. Bring in the jars, the empty container. If you do not have the capacity to contain, , the oil will stop multiplying. We want to see multiplication. If you have the capacity, to keep receiving, to keep containing, you will bless your family, your community and many more people around you. You can be a blessing to others! Are you limited by your inner capacity? 

Enlarge the blessings of God in you! Your inner size of capacity determines how big your vision can be. Remember the story of 5 talents? 2 talents? You need to produce and multiply. God says" well done, good and faithful servant" Matt 25: 21 When you multiply, God will give you even more influence! The last servant who wouldn't multiply, he would not want responsibility. vs 24. He even accuse the master for expecting too much. The servant do not have the ability to handle responsibility or stress. 

Tell yourself" I want to be a person of destiny"

It is not enough to just have passion. When you are young, you have passion. The world is not changed by passion alone, it is changed by people with humongous capacity. 

Eph 3:16  16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,

Paul mentioned that you need to grow your capacity. 

Daniel 12:4, Daniel 7:25

In the end times, knowledge will be increasing every 12 hours. Pace of lfe is faster than ever before. The devil really wanted to wear us out!! The only way to cope, stand, overcome is to grow your inner man. 

How to cope? It is an extremely busy life. The only way is to enlarge your capacity!

“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.

John 16:12

You will eventually crumble if you cant handle the stress of life. 

And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. 2 I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; 1 Cor 3:1-2

Heb 5:11-12

Are you dull in your hearing? DO you understand what God is trying to tell you? You still need milk instead of solid food. Eg, many times Pst Kong wants to tell Dayan about the truth in life, but he was too young, too innocent to handle. He doesn't have the capacity yet. 

1 Corinthians 2:14

When you do not have the capacity, whatever God is doing, you couldn't understand. It seems so silly to you. Good news is, capacity can grow, can be expanded with our response. 

it takes a decision to grow, enlarge your capacity.
